its that time of the month again, and this time it involves origami!

beginner, intermediate or advanced origami fans WELCOMED!

not a fan? ...come out, and you might be convinced.

origami is all about structure and building.

each fold is is a part of the whole.

trying and challenging at times.

complex, but if we carry through and dont give up;

there is always a pleasant surprise at the end.

practice makes perfect.

patience is the key.

to a person who just sees the end result,

it may seem beauty full, simple, and easy...

but as the creator of this structure,

we know that the truth is far from that...

/or close but much deeper...

how can we relate to this?

is this somehow parallel to us (women)?

through discussion and craft, we plan on finding out...

today... wow! i still have stars bursting within me. how great it is to be surrounded by multidimensional, talented, beauty full women. WE MOON Workshop falling on the equinox, and the night before that, the moon came through- supermoon, superWEMOON! much LOVE to the 10 women who came through, eye see you, appreciate you... reflect you. (extraLOVE: ash, taj, andrea, vanessa, mel, meina, jiven, jay rich, roots, and kells)

+++ WE MOON UNITE! together, to get HER... to maintain her, to motivate her, to see her, to love her...

lets be a constant reminder by being the living proof. be mind full of the words you use, and LOVE! (love without fear, without expectation of it being returned...)

i will keep you all posted as to when our next workshop will be, stay connected...

Inner Treasures | Outer Expressions Art Exhibit

Michael (Muki) Baum was born deaf and with cerebral palsy. At 5 months, his parents were told by doctors, “He will be a piece of meat you will carry with you all your life - put him in an institution.” Fortunately, his parents had the foresight to refuse this analysis and provided their son with opportunities to articulate his unique abilities. The photos of clay sculptures featured above are evidence of Muki’s vastly expressive qualities.

This is true of all whose work is on display at the Inner Treasures Outer Expressions art exhibition. The images, emotions and ideas contained in all of these pieces are wordless stories directly from the artist.

An intimate evening with spoken word artist Carlos Andrés Gómez as he comes to Ryerson for a special intimate performance that looks at what it means to be a ‘good man’ in a world where ‘masculinity’ is confined by the narrowest of definitions. It will also be an exploration of the powerful and beautiful things that can define manhood "...giving men the permission to be the best versions of what they can be".

Starting the main show with a powerful spoken word piece will be V Tran from V-Day at Ryerson and Come Unity and Neree Smith from Urban Hip Hop Union

Special Guest Boonaa Mohammed will open for Carlos!

"...UNTIL THE VIOLENCE STOPS" will travel along with V-Day at Ryerson 2010 through out their campaign to raise funds for their efforts. Donations are encouraged and appreciated; and its proceeds will go to V-Day at Ryerson.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes on: Thursday, October 1st, 2009 12-2pm @ Nathan Philips Square, Toronto

Ready to take up the high heel challenge?

Stiletto or pump, flat or sling back, patent leather or leopard print, or even flip flops you decide. All that matters is that you come with your game face on, ready to strut your stuff for the women in your life. In fact, bring them along with you, side by side, in support of a future without violence.

Thousands of men will take over the city's business core this Fall to raise awareness and funds in an effort to end violence against women. This first Toronto edition of the Walk A Mile In Her Shoes¨ fundraising event asks men to literally walk one mile in women's high-heeled shoes. It's not easy, but it gets the community talking about something that's really difficult to talk about gender relations and sexual violence.

Help End Violence Against Native Women and Girls: THIS FRIDAY JULY 10TH

Yesterday I received a text message from a good friend of mine Christine Noble. I'm just going to copy the text here:

"Hey Lovelies! this is a mass text to let you all know that this Friday I will be attending a creative crafting get together to help end violence against Native women and girls. We will all be creating name tags for a permanent art installation that will tour around Canada to various cop shops to show the authorities that we have not forgotten about those they have, women who went missing or murdered and their cases overlooked. Food will be provided, it starts at 11am and will end at 5pm at the Center for Women and Trans People around Spadina and College area. This is a great cause, and a good opportunity to meet some nice people who are passionate about important issues. You don't have to come the whole time, every little bit helps. Spread the word! bring a friend. xo"
