The Clothesline Project

SHARE, LEARN & SPREAD THE WORD WITH STORIES TO BREAK THE SILENCE!

This is a chance for those of you who have witnessed or experienced violence or who want to speak up about it to write or draw your stories on t-shirts, which will be hung on a clothesline for the public to view and read. Come out, meet new people and create a shirt to help end violence against women and girls.

WHEN: FRIDAY MAY 1ST - 4th 2009

To be held outside in the Ryerson Quad from 12pm - 5pm

***1 day (Friday May 1st) of The Clothesline Project will be dedicated to workshops and writing our stories on them. This will be done as a collective group at Ryerson University. If you wish to create your shirt at home or want to remain anonymous just send us an email and we'll tell you how you can get your shirt to us.

Each T-Shirt stands for something different:

(we are urging any donations of used shirts that we could use for this project)

White: Represents women who died because of violence.

Yellow: represents battered or assaulted women.

Red: are for survivors of rape and sexual assault.

Blue: represent survivors of incest and sexual abuse.

Purple: represents women attacked because of their sexual orientation.

Black/grey: is for women attacked for political reasons.
